For the kachangyan (Bontoc elite), the ewes pinakawha is a blanket composed of three horizontal panels. The central panel, pakawha, features eye-like motifs (matamata) and friezes that form a star-like pattern. The side panels, pa-ikid, feature horizontal stripes of red and black, with matamata and tiko-tiko (zigzag) patterns done through supplementary weft.
